Everything you need to know about ordering road-legal and show plates from Dyno Details Plates.
Road-legal plates are made to British Standard BS AU 145e — correct font, spacing, dimensions and reflective material — and require proof of ID and entitlement (V5C etc.). Show plates are novelty plates for car shows, photography, off-road and display only. They can use custom fonts, badges, colours and layouts that are illegal on UK roads. Show plates are sold strictly on the understanding that they will not be used on a public highway.
Yes. Motorcycle plates are available in both 3D gel and 4D laser-cut acrylic in the standard square bike format (228 × 178 mm).
UK law requires two documents: proof of identity (driving licence, passport, utility bill or council tax statement) and proof of entitlement to the registration (V5C logbook, V5C/2 new keeper slip, V5CNI, or a DVLA certificate of entitlement). You can upload at checkout or bring them into the shop — we won't manufacture road-legal plates without them.
No. Show plates are not road-legal and are sold without DVLA proof checks. By ordering you confirm they will only be used off-road, at shows, for photography or display.
Most road-legal plate orders are produced within 24 hours of documents being verified and dispatched the same or next working day.
All plates marked 'Road legal' on our site are manufactured to BS AU 145e and carry the supplier and standard markings required by the DVLA.
